Days 3 & 4 ♦ The historic Catalan city of Girona and its world renowned cuisine
Cross Les Gavarres nature reserve by bike and then descend down quiet roads to the capital of Catalonia - Girona ♦ discover the cultural heritage and indulge your culinary passions in this great city ♦ Visit the impressive Cathedral (originally a Moorish mosque) and the 1st Century BC Roman ramparts that span the old city ♦ walk the ancient Jewish Quarter, touted as the best preserved in Europe ♦ Girona, home to the number 1 rated restaurant in the world, offers a fabulous selection of fine restaurants which you will discover.
Days 5 & 6 ♦ Cliff top coastal views and beautiful villages dating 700 BC
Cycle via lush scenery of the Baix Emporda and a couple of fun climbs ♦ savor the spectacular coastal views from the cliffs by bike ♦ enjoy a private cruise along the many coves of the Costa Brava ♦ visit the curiously impressive Marmalade Museum then on to an artisanal cheese producer and wine maker ♦ pass through the beautiful villages like Ullastret, an ancient Iberian settlement dating 700 BC ♦ celebrate our week's journey with a final dinner and gala event at our hotel
The charming Hotel La Plaça de Madremanya lies between the Girona countryside and the neighbouring Empordà district, within a little paradise of gentle hills. The village has an Italian look to it as the hilltop church and honey-colored stone houses attest; here time seems to stand still. This is a perfect location to cycle the surrounding area, wander the handful of tranquil streets or have a dip in their pool surrounded by the restaurants gardens. Dinners will be in the hotel’s jewel of a restaurant where the Chef/Owner Vicenç will treat us to his delicious regional cuisine.
