Filled with delicious restaurants, gorgeous cycling and 3 world-renowned wine regions, this is our Bordeaux and Basque Country tour.
2000 years of wine making tradition are just a bike ride away. We begin the journey an ancient stone’s throw away from Saint Émilion, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The village itself is a wine & history lover’s paradise, the shopping plentiful and the architecture extremely well preserved. Aside from the wine and food, we’ll make sure to explore the famous XI century Monolithic Church and other historic monuments.Next we’ll make our way to the French Basque country. For centuries the ruling families of Europe have been coming to this region to relax and enjoy its “lost in time” feel. The foothills of the Pyrenees are a land of traditional cuisine, coastal vistas and incredible riding. The final part of our trip takes us to Spain and the Basque city of San Sebastian, touted as being one of the best food cities in the world and having more Michelin stars per capita than any other city, even Paris. Try one of the famous pintxos (tapas from the Basque Country) between days filled with easy pedaling through the vines and seascapes. For our last evening we’ll dine in a Michelin starred restaurant, enjoying the camaraderie shared over the course of this sumptuous week.

Days 3 & 4 ♦ The French Basque Country
Take in a bit of the ocean vistas before heading into the backcountry ♦ Relax in the serenity of the Basque foothills ♦ Enjoy the refined country food, typical of the region ♦ Ride through oak, walnut and cherry forests ♦ Picnic with panoramic hillside views ♦ Discover the hidden gems of the South West wines.
Days 4-6 ♦ Donostia-San Sebastian
Breathe in the tranquility of your XVth century, seaside hotel ♦ Enjoy the sunset views stretching across the Bay of Biscay from the hotel terrace ♦ Visit the historic sites of this cultural mecca ♦ Taste the famous Pintxos of the region ♦ Try the delicious local Txakoli wines ♦ Dine in a Michelin starred restaurant that helped put Basque and Spanish cuisine on the map!
A luxury B&B set in the vineyards of the Saint Emilion appellation, the Relais Franc Mayne is just next to the low-lying walls of the village. Uniquely designed, each room has been decorated in it’s own vibrant theme. A wine domain in itself, we’ll taste its delicious wine after a tour of the underground limestone chambers. Be sure to find some time to take in the sunset over the vinyards from the naturally filtered and heated stone swimming pool.
A seamless blend of Basque tradition and modern comfort, l’Auberge Basque is an oasis in the foothills of the French Pyrenees. Just inland of the famed beach town of St. Jean de Luz, the location is more than ideal to be able to enjoy both the seaside villages and mountain fare. There is a theme of rustic-chic and peace that has become greatly sought after yet rarely perfected like at l’Auberge Basque. The young chef-owner, a disciple of many 3 star restaurants, has recently been awarded his first Michelin star for his delectable cuisine.
Originally a Gothic tower built in 1450; the Saiaz Getaria is centered in the historic fishing village of Getaria. Overlooking the Bay of Biscay and backed by the Txakoli vineyards, the renovations have been lovingly overseen by the owners. Understated luxury is the name of the game here and being only 20 K’s from San Sebastian, this is a wonderful location to discover the city while retreating to the calm of a quaint coastal village.
