TdF Bike Tour the Alps

Lance Armstrong in France!

See Lance in the big Alpine Stages and test yourself up Alpe d'Huez!

The Alps historically play a key role in the race. Our second week tour will take in some of the big mountain stages of the 2010 Tour. Lance, Contador and the other tour challengers will be making their first big push towards taking home the yellow jersey.

Cyclists, be ready to be amazed as we ride the official stage routes and up some of the most well known Tour climbs in the Alps! You’ll get to test your legs up famous Alpine climbs like the Col de la Madeleine, Col de Ramaz, and Alpe d’Huez.

See 3 stage viewings of what promises to be one of the most exciting Tours in history: Sunday, Stage 8 (Morzine-Avoriaz mountain pass viewing), Tuesday, Stage 9 (Col de la Madeleine mountain pass viewing), Wednesday, Stage 10 (Chambery stage start).

For non cyclists we have plenty of fun and exciting activities planned. We'll take a historical and cultural tour of Annecy, called the Venice of the Alps with its rambling canals and pristine lake. We’ll shop a local market to stock up for our cooking class and discover local wines made from little-known varietals. Want a little more relaxation? Take a serene hike through alpine meadows bursting with wildflowers and breathtaking vistas or unwind after the day's activities in your chalet’s hot tub.

Accommodations

Morzine, Alps Chalet GourmetSki

This lovingly refurbished, 100+ year old farmhouse is an eco-friendly haven. Surrounded by Alpine peaks and bubbling brooks, Richard and Fiona have created the perfect mix of luxury and rustic. The owners put their years of Michelin starred experience to work crafting delectable meals using locally sourced, organic ingredients (many of which come from their own garden). Relax after the day’s ride in either the chalet’s hot-tub or sauna before dining under the stars.

Vaujany, Alps ● Chalet Saskia

The Chalet Saskia is set into the hillside just before the unspoiled mountain village of Vaujany and it’s world-class ski resort. This welcoming chalet is blessed with fantastic views across the valley and onto the breathtakingly beautiful Alps, of which, our dinner area and all rooms face. This is a cyclist’s paradise for the close proximity to Alpe d’Huez and other classic climbs of le Tour, not to mention that a recent Tour de France stage passed just in front of the chalet.

AnnecyAbbaye de Talloires

Set along the shores of Lake Annecy, this XVII century monastery has been beautifully transformed into a 4 star luxury hotel. The Abbaye abounds with history and the owners convey this perfectly in the hotel’s design while providing every comfort. Surrounded by a lovely park that runs directly down to their private lakeside lounge, it is ideal for sun bathing or a refreshing swim. For our last evening together, we’ll dine lakeside under the fireworks as the French celebrate Bastille Day.
