Incredible Cycling
|
At Gourmet Cycling Travel, we carefully choose our daily bike routes using local knowledge to ensure the most scenic, quiet roads that are pure cycling heaven! Our tours include some of the most famous roads of the Tour de France like Alpe d'Huez, Mont Ventoux, Col du Tourmalet or the Champs Elysees in Paris. We take bicycle guiding to a whole new level with on-the-road coaching by Coach Simon who leads every ride. Carefully planned sports nutrition, detailed turn-by-turn route instructions, and high quality rental bikes are included in every tour. Our following van provides mechanical support and extra nourishment or allows you the option to shorten your ride if you have had enough for the day.
Challenging – rides typically of 20-70 miles (30-110 kilometers) with some rides in the high mountains. Cyclists should have a good level of fitness and bike skill for descending. On Challenging tours you always have the option tor ride less and always at your own pace. Turn-by-turn route instructions are included on each ride. Moderate - rides typically of 10-40 miles (16-65 kilometers) on flat terrain and some smaller hills. Cyclists should have a good level of fitness. Road or hybrid rental bikes are included, or you may bring your own bike. On Moderate tours you can ride more or less depending on your desire. Turn-by-turn route instructions are included on each ride. Easy – rides typically of 3-20 miles (5-30 kilometers) where the focus is more on exploration by bike and less on challenging cycling. On easy tours you always have the option to ride more and have a road bike. Typically Easy level tours include hybrid bikes.
"Our Tour de France Trip was truly spectacular. Simon was more than just our cycling guide through the scenic roads of Provence, the Alps, Lyon and Paris. As a fluent French speaker and former professional cyclist, he was also our cultural guide through France and our 'press-pass to the pros.' The highlight of our trip included front row access to the team buses and personal photos with Robert Hunter of Team Barloworld. Also impressive was Simon’s ability to keep our group rolling! Whether it was the dirt-road detour to reach the stage start, a broken chain or a tricky alpine descent, he just knew how to support cyclists. Ed and I will definitely take our next trip to France with Simon!" Catie Whelan and Ed Rood |
