Amazing Cycling

Riding To Mont Ventoux

At Gourmet Cycling Travel, we carefully choose our daily bike routes using local knowledge to ensure the most scenic, quiet roads that are pure cycling heaven! Our tours include some of the most famous climbs of the Tour de France like Alpe d'Huez, Mont Ventoux, or Col du Tourmalet. We take bicycle guiding to a whole new level: on-the-road coaching; expert climbing and descending tips; carefully planned sports nutrition; detailed route maps; high quality carbon or aluminum road bikes and much more. A support van will sweep the course and provide you with extra nourishment or pick you up if you have had enough for the day.

Our goal is to treat you just like a Tour de France professional! Our Ride Level guidelines are for cyclists who would like to ride with the majority of the group led by coach Simon. We like to stay together when possible (except when climbing and descending) as it increases the camaraderie and enjoyment for everyone. You can always go alone at your own pace or alternatively do an optional shorter ride

Ride Levels:

Challenging – rides of 20-80 miles, many times in the high mountains. Cyclists should have a high level of fitness and be at ease riding with other cyclists in a group. Of course you can always go at your own pace. Drop bar road bicycles with clip-less pedals the best option.

Explore – Manageable rides of 10-40 miles on flat to rolling terrain. More intense rides upon request. Cyclists should have a decent level of fitness. Road, hybrid or MTB bikes are available.

Easy – rides of 3-20 miles. You ride at your own pace and explore the local area (maps included). Road, hybrid, or mountain bikes are available.

"Our 2008 TdF “Tour de France” Trip was truly spectacular. Simon was more than just our cycling guide through the scenic roads of Provence, the Alps, Lyon and Paris. As a fluent French speaker and former professional cyclist, he was also our cultural guide through France and our 'press-pass to the pros.' The highlight of our trip included front row access to the team buses and personal photos with Robert Hunter of Team Barloworld. Also impressive was Simon’s ability to keep our group rolling! Whether it was the dirt-road detour to reach the stage start, a broken chain or a tricky alpine descent, he just knew how to support cyclists. Ed and I will definitely take our next trip to France with Simon!" Catie Whelan and Ed Rood
